I enjoyed this take on the classic honeymoon-gone-wrong trope. The characters were full and interesting, coupled with compelling backstories full of history and trauma (a delightful trend I am seeing with this author in her books). I quite enjoy how it’s not a shallow romance novel and takes time to showcase past injustices, such as talking about the community sanctioned gay bashing that occurred openly and frequently in the past. The voice actor was phenomenal and was such a joy to listen to (no idea how accurate an aussie accent it was…but it was hot none the less!).
