I tried this one on a whim from it’s wild premise and high reviews. What I found was a strange main character, who never got to interact with another person in 20 chapters (at which point I stopped listening).

Pros:

-Palatable, if chewy, story.

-I really like the voice-actor, Annie Ellicott’s, performance when female roles came up in the B-story chapters.

Cons:

-Slow pace, with the MC’s story entirely based on RPG XP-leveling.

-Main character is uninteresting, which is terrible for a story told in 1st person.

-In 20 chapters, I found no story, no character (personality) growth, and no interesting encounters.

-The Narrator’s voice acting wasn’t for me in this read: youthful and British
