So first I’ll admit I’ve not finished the story but did listen to 8 hours worth of it. So far I’ve struggled to listen to this story and found I could leave it going and come back and not miss anything. In 8 hours the characters haven’t done much but talk about plans and stats. With all the characters in the group there’s also lots of talking during the few fights they get in while they chat about abilities or spells. During a scene one puts up a shield to prevent them from being wiped and the characters stand around talking rather than trying to save themselves while the shield is described as cracking multiple times.
I’m not sure how the rest of the story goes but I’m gonna stop as while I love the characters and the narrators the story itself has sadly become a bit of a slog in comparison to other books I’ve listened to recently.
