The vast majority of the protagonists are men. From bumbling prisoners attempting to assault nurses to a hospital administrator who within days starts dealing drugs to solidify control over a hospital. The men in this story are nearly all emotionally, mentally, or physically compromised…Loral, a former Army Captain and ER Physician is the lead. Lead supporting roles in the hospital are Henry…A janitor and ex con. Loral is a veteran, as a physician…her experience would be oriented towards medical experience with only a broad knowledge of tactical skills. Limited knowledge of basic weapon systems and field knowledge. The author gives Loral the confidence of an operator at times. Also she pushes the idea that veterans coming back from war are riddled with PTSD and a ticking time bomb … Bear Lorals soon to be ex. Yes some have issues, many do not besides normal military reintegration. This author really needs to bring in a military veteran or at least do more research to make military experiences believable. Having 3 masked men shooting at you…military vet runs up and shoots at there feet? Bear is supposed to be seasoned, It’s a bit unlikely anyone would give those men a chance…why do so in a book? Then the masked men choose to run but then throw a grenade? Hard eye roll…I’m not sure I will finish this. It’s not something I can recommend except to a teen or someone is a complete novice to the subject of survival. If you can turn off your reasoning and questions…It’s a okay performance, That some may find entertaining.
