I’m already on book 4 if that tells you anything. It should be noted there are a few caviates to this great review.

1. There are spans of chapters that simply describe rules of what is going on. “This is how this works, this is what a HUD is” so on and so forth. (Chapter 4-7 are literally just explaining everything… It moves quick after the first 30 minutes, but its still probably well over an hour of explanation.)

2. Carl’s character has very slow progression at first. Not loot wise, that I don’t mind whatsoever, but his character doesn’t really get built very well in this first book.

Other than these two complaints, the books are great. And the performance is an easy 10/10. Jeff Hays nails this series out of the park. I’ve heard in passing that a follow up audiobook is in the works without Jeff doing all the voices, I won’t be reading those. Who needs them? Jeff nails the voices so hard.
