seriously… I just finished a chapter and I have about 6hrs left… and I just delt with literally 20 minutes of stats listed… minute mark 38 to 58… and I lost it… so I came here to leave this review… and that is my primary reason this series now gets 3 stars… it’s the same stats and skills we have heard every 3 chapters since book 1… seriously dude!!!… chapter 10, 16, ect, a few “intermission” and side story chapters… anywhere from 5 minutes in length to 20… every time a skill, perk, ECT, anything gets upgraded, every time the character gets 1 new skill… sometimes for no reason other than the characters were bored and decided to pull up their stats….let’s start all over at the beginning in case you forgot that he has a hero title and saved 10 people 90 hours of audio ago… let’s introduce a character and give you EVERYTHING… for a 10 min side chapter but a 20 min stat reading…

and what the heck is with the skill names…
every time a skill gets upgraded it gets a new upgraded name… but we can’t just call it improved cut, refined cut or something simple to progress it… hell even cut 9 cut 10… cut 300…
no .. now it’s just breaking the flow of all combat scenes…

“Zack used his skill, “perfect whirling dancing wind steps of doom: the dance of I can’t figure out how to be more creative and long winded with my skill names” as he stepped around the attack and cut through the foe before him” …
“Riyun used his skill “perfect cut: the writing torn asunder under the authors great big need to have a longer audio book and get 1 more penny for a long word count”, to slice through the approaching bullet.”

“Riyun’s skill was upgraded from cut, to improved cut, to greater cut, to ridiculous cut, to perfect cut, to perfect cut of death, to perfect cut of death to my listeners I mean foes through brain melting ears bleeding…”

seriously… sigh

and at this point… I really don’t know if I’m going to go to book 4… it’s that bad for me…
I wish I hated the story…

but the story is freaking great! I’m loving the progression, loving the story, loving the characters redemption from being a monster in book 1, I’m loving Zack having to deal with reality and that the “bad guy” isn’t bad anymore… just cool it on the stats… Zack upgraded his skill… the end, next chapter…

the narrator is good. but his character range is smaller. so a lot of people sound like others… but it hasn’t been bad enough to stop me from listening. I’m 30ish hours in… I’ll finish it… and maybe continue…
