overall, great addition to the series and it sets itself up well for more to come. There was sooo much content and so many things happening. I feel like I was on the edge of my seat that whole time. This is one of my favorite series and I’m so glad Hugo is back at it. I can’t wait for the next book!

If I had to give any critiques, I feel like I missed some details that became relevant later on, The audio 2 or 3 times also seemed to cut weird in the later half of the book. The constant character switching was a bit jarring, since it happened a lot for a long period of time, but overall, not a bad thing since it was meant to give context to a huge battle. I do feel like there could’ve been more explanation/ time for prep of the big moments, They happened after the fact continuously, which lead to a pay off, but it felt like I was always one step behind the character instead of experiencing things with him. (but this was probably the intent anyways to not give away spoilers.). If I had to give any advice to Hugo, I would make sure that you don’t lose the main character in all of the action and other characters, we love Ed, and we want to see this story unfold through his eyes (imo).

All in all though, it was a great book regardless of my critiques and I whole-heartedly recommend listening. Without giving away spoilers – the themes behind Ed’s choices and the end of the book is what seems to be, an inevitable struggle that he and the haunt will have to go through, is setting out to be awesome.
