Was this the best thing ever? No. The premise was shake-y and Mercy’s narrators was doing her best. Even Gabriel’s narrator did a relatic good job… but sometimes it was cringe… particularly the Caleb moments. Like my dude, just put on some boxers please.
Was it unbelievable? Oh, for sure. This plot is Beauty and the Beast essentially. Part of it requires you to suspense your disbelief. And sometimes that’s all you need to buy into dark romance. I’m not entirely sure why people want this fictional book to be laced in reality.
Was I entertained? Yes. Thoroughly entertained, so much more than I thought I was going to be. The spicy scenes were written well, too. Is that enough to get me through the next 3 book? Yes, now I’m invested.
