Very underwhelming. I like the narrator, he carries the story quite a bit. The pseudo-science that the MC used to try and explain how he figures out stuff was a bit eye rolling. There’s points in the book when the MC is kind of relatable, but most of the internal monologue is heinous in how otherworldly this persons thought process is. The skills and talent system makes no sense. From what I heard he just has to think really hard about something and he suddenly generates a talent 🙄 there’s a lot of eye-rolling level back pedaling when he miraculously overcomes something that should and definitely would have killed him. Deep thought and mindfulness, thinking through intense situations in a fraction of a second happens pretty frequently.

In all, I was disappointed, I’ve been looking for months for a new read (listen) that doesn’t have a horrible narrator or main characters with the thought process of 5 year olds. I’ve been going through my favorite books and find myself listening to books I’ve revisited several times. The previews don’t help and audible has made it so I can’t return books I don’t like so I guess I’m stuck.
