Other reviews said it starts rough but gets better, but they were inaccurate. I’m halfway through and it’s still bad. Really, really bad. The writing is terrible. The characters are poorly written and one dimensional, while the main character is basically apologetically and lazily omnipotent, existing in a world that inexplicably devolved from a wealthy, magically enhanced modern-ish world to a heavily feudal Japanese-style world that *plot twist* is now an idiocracy. There is no indication halfway through of the reason society devolved, or why every one of the feudal warriors acts like they ate paint chips in place of cereal.
The main reader does all right.
