I really liked the first book in this series. It was neat and new. The character development was cool, and the world development was better. The rules of the game were set up well, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next.
sadly, what happened next just isn’t as interesting. This story gives the MC a windfall of money, and that just takes a lot of the tension out of the story. He even talks about how going to a tournament isn’t that important, because they were doing it for money and they have that now. There just doesn’t seem to be any more goals for them to be working towards, and that makes it uninteresting.
If Cooper comes out with another one i’ll probably get it, but if that one isn’t a lot better, i’ll probably be done with the series.
