I’m giving this a 4.5.
I loved the female narrator. The male narrator struggled doing 5 different voices. Some voices were good and some weren’t. They needed multiple narrators for the men.
Without listening to the second book, I can say that this should’ve been a trilogy. This isn’t a dark book. It’s barely grey. I’m here for the smut and this book has it all but there needed more plot. Regardless, I couldn’t stop listening to this. It gripped me in from the beginning. The first spicy scene happens in chapter 2 and it’s hot!
There are too many characters introduced in the beginning that it’s hard to keep up. I had to create a cheat sheet.
Here are the character descriptions:
Alessa (aka Less): Female leader. Black hair with blue eyes.
Leo: Less’ boyfriend in the beginning and plays a part in the entire book.
Ryder: 2nd in command. Has known Less since birth. (They were born several months apart.) Total alpha and badass. Known for making shitty comments. Dark hair with brown eyes and many tattoos.
Gage: Has known Less since he was 10. He’s the funny guy who mostly jokes around that everyone loves and is drawn too but has a mean streak. Gage is a pretty boy that attends all the public events with Less. He doesn’t look like someone in the mafia. Brown hair with ice blue eyes.
Dexton (aka Dex): Dex rose through the ranks quickly after Less’ dad died. He meet Less when he was 17. He dated (or messed around) with Less before he was taken for some time and because of that trauma he barely speaks anymore. He has a scar that runs down the side on his head. He can’t stand to be touched. Dex is the voice of reason in the group.
Holden: Holden was sold by his uncle, after his parents died, to hack for the mafia. During this time (4 years) one of the men sexually abused him. Less’ and her team saved him and made him part of the family. Holden can’t look Less in the eye of more than two seconds. He spends all of his time in his office giving him the nickname of “Office Dweller.” Less can count on Holden for any information she needs and he never asks questions. Blonde hair with brown eyes.
*Holden’s character goes through the most change throughout the book.
This is a MF, MFM, MMF, and MM, polyamorous story. (This book only has one full spicy MM scene without Less. Most scenes are threesomes.) Two men have Bi Awakenings. The spicy scenes are graphic but not over the top.
I can’t wait to start book 2!
