I liked this book spent more time with Zach than the previous book and developed a solid storyline that will undoubtedly continue through the series. We get to see here what a beast Ryun can be in this new world, but I’m left wondering at the end of Zach is now the more powerful one. I suspect Ryan’s progress will jump in book 3 to catch up and perhaps a meeting of the two is coming soon.
Overall this series is well done with the exception of excessive stat screen descriptions that can last 10+ minutes and appear frequently throughout the book.
Almost all can be skipped over without missing anything for the story as the stats chosen are brought up in battles and described in enough detail to catch the listener up. I’ve also found the stat sections are easily skipped as they show up at the end of chapters. Just skip to the next chapter and you are good to go.
