I’m a big fan of the author’s “Two Necromancers” series.
This, by comparison, didn’t seem quite as entertaining. It’s not bad, mind you, but I did end up eventually switching to listening to it only at night while I was falling asleep.
The whole simulated lair story seemed odd. There wasn’t really a deeper plot or major character development or anything. It was more as if it were just describing random D&D adventures.
There were a lot of minor characters that joined the party. For many, their own personalities didn’t come through very well.
I’m unsure on if I’ll get the next book in the series or not. Currently leaning towards not.
