I realize this series is all over the place in terms of length and this one isn’t actually the shortest, but it feels like it is because of the story structure.
The plot is setup and the climax is the resolution of a detour. Feels like the story barely started and it ended and the book only exists to insert a few new treasure pieces. Not a big deal, just a bit more of a filler than I’d like.
As for the narrative, it’s bothered me since book and has gotten a bit better, but the ambient sounds are a bit much. I’d rather they not be present at all, but sometimes they’re very distraction and play for way too long.
