The series is awesome, hitting hard right off the bat. However, in the last book especially, I think the shock value may have been overdone a bit. The survivalist and collapse aspects are probably one of the most realistic portrayals I’ve heard in most books, but the gore and brutality are a bit excessive in the last book. If it weren’t excessively graphic in the final book, I would’ve rated it higher.
