This story takes you in from the first chapter and you can’t stop listening to the end. I usually complete a book in 3-4 days. I listened to this one all day just to see how it developed and ended. You will be satisfied with the arc and ending but like any great story with amazing characters you are left wanting more.
Now to the narration. If you have listened to more than one audiobook you know how a great book can be ruined. However, this is not one of those times. Phil Thorn has become one of my favorite narrators. His ability to jump from character to character with complex dialog, male and female characters and meet or exceeded the writers intent is truly a gift and honed talent. You lose yourself in his ability to grab the perfect tempo, mood and weight in every chapter. The slight changes in inflection, sighs and noises is so realistic I forget I’m listening to a book and not watching a movie.
This is one to jump on and be a part of what is hopefully to be a large franchise with many stories that match the perfection of Double Negative. Thank you Mr Browne for your imagination, eye for detail and ability to get into your characters heads to reveal an amazing twisted story of adrenaline, exhaustion and even a little Romance.
