The storytelling is good, but the plot is not well-contained—the breakpoint feels kind of arbitrary, narratively speaking. It is very obviously an incomplete part of a serial, as it leaves all the most interesting plot threads hanging at the end, some of which are only even introduced in the final few chapters. Be prepared to buy the sequels if you want any resolution.
