The new narration stuff is kinda fun, and the humor seems to be pretty much the same as it was in book one. But, uh, Raven changed Alex.
Alex was always, like, 40% of the funny nonsense going on in book one. A badly made corpse of a man-eating cat-man trying to be a maid, Alex’s identity was always going to be all over the place. Harold even made some real good puns out of it (Alex was nyan-binary)!
But now Alex is a he. Not for any character reason, just so the mantis girl can fall for the cat boy. It’s…lame. Ruins a bunch of jokes. And is an un-fun retcon. Not my cup of tea.
