Oh look, fantasy racism and slavery right off the bat. No imagination from the author and a good concept is ruined by the author feeling the inexplicable need to add unnecessary grimdark elements in a world that’s created as a game first and foremost. Author also can’t decide on the MC’s personality, one moment he’s a forced conscrip, veteran of real combat with disassociation training and the next he’s internally crying about killing npc slavers who were planning on selling him to an awful fate and apparently the future military training doesn’t include hand to hand combat. So the story and the setting conflict in the most boring ways and turn into the author just adding another stack to the trash pile.
A struggle to get into and look past because the story doesn’t offer enough enticement to ignore the problems it presents right at the beginning.
