This was one of those Audible Originals that I happened to see and thought the storyline sounded interesting and then I realized that it was also one of those books that just happened to be “included” in my membership (in other words…it was free…) So really, kind of a no brainer…..

The plot was…….interesting. We have two main characters (well 2 characters, but the female MC is actually kind of 2 separate or different characters all on her own. There is her “present” self and her “future” self… or maybe her “present” self and “past” self? It is a little confusing when you think about it.

The FMC was apparently thrown through a wormhole during a solar flare and found herself 80 years in the future. She them SOMEHOW, all of a sudden (5 years later) discovers that her old cell phone is fully charged and can call ONE specific phone number. That phone number happens to be a male teacher that she used to work with before the wormhole trip to the future (they are /were both high school teachers at the same school). But she is calling this MC during her original timeline. Make sense?

The FMC then has the idea that if she can convince the MC to go and make friends with her “past/present” self and somehow stop her from ever entering the wormhole, that she can undo the future that she finds herself in. If you take away all of the glaring holes in this scenario (the FMC apparently was told by some stranger in the hospital when she woke up in the future that she can not interact with anyone or anything in this future world. She is basically a prisoner in an apartment with no access to television, news, or ANY access to this future world. She has NO idea even WHERE she is. Plus, somehow this phone automatically recharges itself even though she doesn’t even have a charger. Plus, she didn’t have a friendship with the MC prior to this event so she definitely NEVER had his phone number….. silly things like that).

So, taking all of that away, this then becomes a really nice story of two people getting to really know each other (through these phone calls) and building a friendship. The friendship eventually grows and develops and it is really fun to listen to.

The story is narrated by Zoë Chao and Noah Reid with apparently a full supporting cast. I did enjoy the story (once I just decided to go along with the flow). If you have a couple of hours and want a very easy and quick listen with a HEA, then this is the story for you. Just don’t think too hard about the specifics and you are all set 🙂
