This might be the first time I fully enjoyed a prequel to anything. J.S. Morin did not mess up his own continuity AND told a fully entertaining and engaging set of stories.

I read this one after enjoying Outlaws, Mercy, and after being a bit let down by Astral Prime. I think this is my favorite so far. Great storytelling and his tightest in the 3 listens.

I realy enjoy his character development and the way the writing changes with character perspective and growth. As all of the characters exist in their morally grey areas, the subtly shifting perspectives allow for listener to empathize with the characters while keeping them true to themselves – even while sometimes playing villian to other main characters’ arcs.

Really glad I did not give up after Astral Prime.

Oh! Almost forgot to mention Naramore’s performance. Always exceptional, so much so that I forget he isn’t a full cast. He really adds to the life of any works he performs on.
