“I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.”

Having said that, I enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and their development.
I liked that not all the characters were “goody goody” or instant “heros”. Just normal people who found themselves in the thick of the “crap hitting the fan.”

There were a couple pieces of dialog that were a tad repetitive but it didn’t pull me out of the story. Just small moments that could be smoothed out. Other than that, it was well written and enjoyable to experience the progression of events in the story.
The narrator did a fine job. He had a good voice most of the time but, there were a couple of times he gave a character an accent in one moment and no accent in another. Also, some of the accents that were given to a couple characters were a little… weak? Not horrible but, maybe not necessary.
I DID like how he didn’t try to do “voices” to differentiate between female and male. that always makes me cringe a little.

I like “post apocalyptic origin” stories, if you will. Which is what this was. It is a style of story that can be tricky to show how humans evolve in panic situations. I think this was done well.

I would listen to more by this author.
