Any additional comments?
This story is a deep character study, twisty and cerebral as it deals with the lasting effects of psychological trauma– a topic that many of Loretta’s books explore. The heroine is struggling to get through each day as the past constantly threatens to drown her, and she fights to unravel the mystery of who killed her brother. Sophie is a bit cold and distant due to her history, but it is easy to understand and like her.

I found the pacing a lot slower and heavier than most of Loretta’s other books, and I had to take a break to emotionally process things a few times. The ending genuinely surprised me, and I am eager to get my hands on the next book.
