The mark of a great audio book is a narrator who can read with a broad emotional range, has a diverse range of voices, and can swap believably and consistently between voices and narration. Jeff Hays delivers on all counts with talent that astounds me with every chapter. Some mild enhancement to the audio and this has become my new favorite series!

Poor Carl. Between keeping his cat from getting them both killed and dealing with the insanity of the Dungeon, it is a joy to hear Carl face each challenge with a determination to not let either his life or his humanity slip from his grasp. As every chapter brings new discoveries of the nature of this world-turned-Hell, I can say little except to give it a chance. Hilarious, horrifying, and humbling, Matt Dinniman’s Dungeon Crawler Carl as read by Jeff Hays is a delight and worth every second of its 13-and-a-half hour runtime.
