This story has wonderful moments that absolutely deserve the hype the book has received… but you have to earn those moments through slogs of exposition dumps, two dimensional character interactions, and a story structure that aims to make you want to put the book down. I can see why people love it, because the powerful moments are indeed potent, but the ride was one I was happy to be done with once it was over.
