Liked: The voice acting in this book was no joke phenomenal. I need to verify but a quick Google search says it really is all done by one guy. incredible. story wise I got a real kick out of being a nerd and listening to ttrpg references throughout the narrative. I enjoyed the feeling of the struggle Carl has in the story cause it feels similar to struggles I have going through my own games. I appreciated that despite this, they really do focus on the humanity that is within Carl. The storyline with him helping the elderly, protecting the Asian party in the death wash game show, or caring for anyone he can resonated with me. I appreciated that

Disliked: It took a while to really care about Carl. He spends so long complaining about himself, and the complaints about his pants/feet. I did have to force myself to push through between the 30%-60% section of the story. I feel like I’ll give the other books a shot as I relate to Carl and Donut more, and hoping the middle sections don’t feel as slow.
