I have heard books read by Joel Leslie and been amazed by the differences he puts into each character’s voice, but obviously this one, he goes beyond. In other audible books, I’ve always had a hard time distinguishing between the character’s ‘mind speak’ versus ‘voice speak’ but in this book, Joel gives the MC’s inner dialog a different voice. Not only do we have the inner dialog of the MC, we get his voice, the Scottish voice of his lover, the faint burr of his lover’s female friend, the Chinese accent of her lover, the burr of the MC’s dad, the voice of an elder woman, the English accent of a male friend, the French accent of another friend, the Italian accent of another friend, the New York accents of the MC’s co-workers, the Spanish accent of another male friend, along with a few minor characters, each one with a distinct tone. Mind-blowing.

Then there is the book. NR Walker pens such believable character’s, each with faults and strengths. All the characters in this book were written like they were real people, friends and neighbors. I enjoyed all the action, the twists of the story and the final climax. Well done. Thank goodness there are a few sequels, because I want more.
