This is one of the worst books I have listened to in a long time, although to be fair I did not even finish the first book (more on that later).
The core idea of an animal evolution based Litrpg is fun but as the book goes on “The system” ends up feeling bland and inconsistent.
The protagonist is so unfunny it hurts, the same håndfuld of “jokes” gets repeated over and over again with minor variationsmuligheder (butt = business end, system = Gandalf, evolution hurts etc).
What made me quit the book(s) was a scene of the protagonist relentlessly beating his pet ape “for its own good” because he needed it to evolve… what the fuck…
The narration isn’t bad, but the structure of the story makes for unpleasent listende with many volume changes and too many “notifications” interrupting the narrations flow.
