Man. What a disappointment. This was recommended to me by many of my friends and on BookTok. I couldn’t be more disappointed.

To sum up this book – if you can get past the first 1/3 slowly setting up the world and history, you’re rewarded with an epic fight scene. Once you get past that, several new plot lines start to emerge. But don’t get too attached, because the last 1/3 of the book is senseless banter between characters. All new plot lines remain unresolved and you’re left with disappointment and frustration.

The worst part for me was the stupid tropes run rampant in this book.
-A man who had a “rough” childhood and can’t express his feelings so he buries his emotions and passes his childhood trauma onto his family. -A woman who is raped is told to “smile more because you’re so pretty” and “it’ll be ok, just look at everyone who loves you”. When she takes her life everyone is “shook”.
-If a woman is enduring abuse and neglect from her husband, all she needs to do is “hold on” and it’ll work itself out for the best.

Not only are these stupid and unrealistic, but they’re also dangerous.

Save yourself the time and money. It’s not worth it.
