I’m not really into the omegaverse and just started this series because I like sci-fi and spice. I think the author did well making each book able to be a stand alone, versus current writers who don’t know the difference between a series and serials.
The narration because muddy at times in this book, as with so many characters, few were easily identified. I don’t understand why the choice was made to make Pike sound stupid, when he would have learned his native tongue from other slaves and progressed from speaking like a child. Pike was also intelligent enough to learn two languages, one from a species that used clicking chiton and postures to communicate…then he was picking up English, despite not having the oral structure to easily communicate with those languages.
It was also awkward to have “adult content” with a character who spoke like a cognitively impaired child.
It was a choice.
