I got the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook (first in the series) about a week and a half ago and have binged harder than a meth addled goblin warring with Bad Llamas. I think most of the low reviews are just horrible people who don’t like demotivational quotes, skip cut scenes in games, and think easter eggs are pointless. As the title states, I was surprised how well the author, Matt Dinniman, balanced the humor, game aspects, and direness of the characters’ positions. I have been introduced to a new genre, but at the same time it has probably been ruined as the rest not being able to up to this level of writing. (For me and my tastes. I do not want to detract from other’s abilities, especially not having read any others.)
