Plot holes you could drive a truck through

I love a good “end of the world/society” story. But give me a pretense of a background. The author seemed to attribute the end of America to “terrorists” taking out “key infrastructure” across the US as to the cause of the complete collapse of the country. And did so in about 2 sentences.

The backstory of the antagonist was better fleshed more thoroughly.. But really didn’t make any sense either.

If you can overlook the backstory of how this world came to be and the history of the characters, the dialogue and flow of the story are pretty good.

Just don’t think about how we got to this situation too much.
