This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I look forward to listening to more.
It was a great short story, but I think it could have easily been expanded to a full length novel and been just as well done. There definitely is a sort of Handmaid’s Tale feel to this book with the strict control of births, rearing of the children, honours given to the birth mother, and harsh punishments, yet this is a very different tale otherwise. Enjoyable- scary in the possibility of this becoming a reality.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brenda Scott Wlazlo ) and I would listen to another. She did very well narrating this book and bringing it to life.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
