The author surprisingly somehow managed to diminish the MC in this book. Not only did he stall any progression, he had the MC continue to make obvious mistakes that ended up costing peoples lives, including some he thought of as friends. Also, he seemed to decide to end the whole romantic relationship between the MC and his ‘girlfriend’ that he invested time blooming in past books. The final battle was ridiculous with the small band holding off many more soldiers and cultivators stronger than them without losing anyone.

In all, most of the book seemed like filler and misdirected.

Travis Baldree’s performance was well done but the dialog made it a wasted effort.

I won’t be continuing the series.
