I received this audiobook for free from the author/ narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

I typically listen to sci-fi and mystery books. And thus this book was a welcome change of pace. I didn’t quite like it, probably because this is my first book of this genre. Probably if I listen to a few other books of similar kind, I might learn to appreciate this one too.

While listening to this one, it felt like I was listening to a period drama. And not the interesting kind; but artsy kind. The characters were a little unbelievable, more like seen through rose tinted glasses and conjured via wishful thinking. Some of the plot setups were unfathomable too.

The story’s scope itself is grand. It spans quite some time and incorporates different cultures in the story. I liked those bits.
