series starts off pretty unoriginal with the classic reincarnation trope, this one being near identical to mushoku tensei with the biggest difference being that mc was a king from an alternate earth. It also holds the similarly cringe old mind young age conundrum that will inevitably make some parts feel creepy in the early parts of the series. apart from that tho the series gets into its own pace as the author slowly fleshes out Arthors new world as well as parts of his old one, and actually attempts to tie the worlds together even though I personally feel the story could be done without the previous life and possibly be better for it. (I still respect the attempt, though.)

For those concerned about op mc; early on he starts out much stronger than most people he runs into, but does eventually hits a wall that forces him to struggle much more in order to keep up.

over all pro/cons of the series

pros

1 bad ass fights
2 fairly unique world when it fully develops
3 gut reaching moments that will pull the heart strings in the right way
4 great narrator
5 many compelling character archs

cons

1 reincarnation feels mostly unessasy (even tho it ties more deeply into the plot later on)
2 dumb character moments where people make idiotic choices that will possibly make you pull your hair out in frustration.
3 gut reaching moments that will pull at the heart string in the worst ways
4 cliche tropes that can be eyerolling
5 creepy elements due to characters’ mental age

I honestly could add more to both pros and cons, but it’s difficult without getting into to many spoilers. ultimately, nothing has made drop this series so far (even tho I’ve been tempted a few times), and I will be hoping for a satisfying conclusion with his next 2 books.

last note: book 10 has 2 narrators which ends up throwing off the pace a bit with female narrator doing female perspective and travis doing male perspective. she does all voices in her portion making it a bit jarring hearing new voices for the same characters. It’s not the best choice to bring in someone so late in the series, and it was poorly executed. It didn’t ruin things for me, but hopefully they work things out before book 11 and 12.
