I gave this book a chance because the first one intrigued me just enough to see what the author would do with a sequel. Unfortunately, he doubled down on the same drawn out, anemic pacing from the first book. He once again tried to hook the reader with “deep mysteries” but after an entire book that didn’t even touch on the biggest unanswered question from the first book, I’m not interested in being pulled along for the boring ride anymore. Tossing in some new characters isn’t a substitute for developing the ones you already have. If you really enjoyed the first book, maybe you’ll like this one. If you’re on the fence, pass on this one.
