Overall an entertaining and enjoyable story with a bit of a twist on a "zombie type" apocalypse. The story started off a bit slow and it took me a while to really be pulled in. It’s one of those that doesn’t pull you in immediately but slowly creeps up on you and before you know it your hooked. Even though it starts off a bit slow, there is plenty of action, suspense, mystery and twists that keep the story moving. I actually ended up listening to this book twice and liked it much more the second time around than the first.

As if facing an apocalyptic event isn’t enough. What do you do when you are in a remote, desolate and frozen wasteland using only what you have at hand to survive a deadly new threat. Not only are you fighting an unexpected enemy that you know nothing about, you are fighting the elements. Even in a sparsely populated area things can terribly wrong really fast.

Interesting cast of well rounded characters each with their own knowledge to add to the group. Vasilli(?) though he stole the show for me. He was a character you never knew what he was going do come up with next. That’s the best type of character one that constantly surprises you. If he had a series of his own that is one I would definitely be following. At the same time I was really irked when a particular character was eliminated. (Don’t want to spoil the story for anyone so that’s all I can say about that). Why would you get rid of a fantastic character when there are so many other "disposable" ones to knock off.

Kevin Pierce did a fantastic job with the narration as usual. He has one of those voices that was made for narrating books. He was the reason I kept listening in the beginning until the story really pulled me in. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Really good character voices. He just has a way of bringing the characters, their emotions and the story to life through his narration. Always very enjoyable.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily provided this review.
