I got through 22 hours of this but had to stop. I am a fan of Van Gogh’s work and was excited to learn about his life. However, the entire narrative is laced with an air of disdain for Vincent. The narrator was very good at letting us know the authors view of their subject in the tone of his voice. Always with a hint of judgment and condescension with regard to his life. They continually harped on Vincents work being “no good”, while at the same time showing us how tirelessly he worked on his craft. We all know that he suffered from mental illness, but he lived a life, and created beauty for generations of people to enjoy, and be inspired by. I think that they did him a disservice in how they portrayed him in the book. He deserved better. Sorry, not sorry, I couldn’t listen to 22 hours more of Van Gogh bashing.
