I have one hour to go and am finding myself almost rooting against the protagonist. The bizarre setting of the story was interesting, along with some of the monsters. The sneaking-around scenes are what shined, but when it came to action/fighting/characters getting themselves out of a tight spot, the solutions and dialogue were downright silly. Also – again, without having finished yet – cannot tell if author is anti religious, or is merely importing religious themes into a dark fantasy.
Update: Begrudgingly finished it…it got worse.
