I really enjoyed this audiobook. The story itself was interesting, with an enjoyable balance of world building, combat, progression, and exploration. There were also elements of intrigue, which I enjoyed. I should note that the magic/ability system is less “deck of cards” and more “slots for things”. I didn’t mind that, but I have seen some reviewers disappointed by this being labeled as a card-based LitRPG. The MC has some unique quirks and was refreshingly consistent with both his characteristics and his development. Still generally OP, but that is common in this genre.

Narration was great, overall. Many dialog and internal monologue sections had a stronger flavor of voice acting than straight narration, which I liked. Was not perfect, but was damn solid and made the story and characters engaging for me.
