This was another “new to me” author of a book that had been in my library for quite a long time. The audio book was narrated by Joel Leslie who I am quite familiar with. He consistently does a good job.

This book introduces us to Julien Doran and Eli Smith. Julien – who happens to be a famous Hollywood actor whose career is on the downturn – arrives in a small town eager to try to find out more information on what might have led up to his brothers death. Julien’s brother had been involved in traveling all over the world, searching for proof, any proof, of all things paranormal. Apparently, this time he found it. Unfortunately, not too long after that phone call to his brother telling him that he found something, he mysteriously ends up dead.

Eli is a werewolf with a very mysterious background. In fact, we spend most of the book peeling back his layers. Layers that make for an interesting character and also makes him extremely intriguing to Julien. Apparently he is also an already established character from another one of Charlie Adhara’s series’ yet since this is my first book from this author, I don’t have any knowledge of him other than what is given in this book.

The minute Julien arrives in town, he finds himself in the middle of all kinds of things. A missing man, a B&B owner who is convinced that Sweet Pea (a monster) really does exist. A fact that is proving detrimental to her B&B business.

I must admit, I really liked both of these MC’s. They both had qualities and characteristics that made it easy to root for them and to be happy when they got together. The storyline in this book does kind of go all over the place, but for the most part it kept my interest and had me curious to see where everything was going.

There was a wrap up of this story arc but it definitely left the door open for book 2. I am looking forward to the next book, but even better than that, my interest has been peaked into the original series that preceded this one. Apparently, it stars Oliver and Cooper and I am VERY curious to see how the three of them ((Eli, Oliver and Cooper) came together.

*sigh* It seems my TBR list just keeps growing and growing, but this is a GOOD thing.

Too many books, so little time…….
