In a world where so many exclamations exist, the author try’s to create one. In this and previous books, the MC uses “GD”, “holy h*ll”, etc. so, he obviously knows some. Why try to force a supremely stupid exclamation that has no imagery or history to justify it? Basically, this guy tries to “that’s so fetch” with something even worse: “shadow crap”. So lame. Next, he thinks all southerners still live in the stereotypical 1930s. We only say “…’round these parts…” if we are making fun of uneducated southerners from almost a century ago. After what, 4 or 5 books of this? I gave it far more of a chance than anyone should. I’m out.
Performance was great for what they had to work with.

MC doesn’t have a kid. He has the same level of puppet he sees everywhere else. It’s not possible that he gets that confused.
MC doesn’t have a feral goblin side. He has aggression like any other aggressive person in a fight-or-flight scenario.
