This is a well written, interesting story giving yet another perspective on WWII atrocities. Of course, one should read it alongside the books about Auschwitz (for example “the Choice”), or about the siege of Leningrad (where 800 000 civilians died of hunger and cold including 400 000 children), to understand why torpedoes were marked as they were. But it is a great reminder, that in war all parties suffer greatly and there are good and bad people in every nation and there are also psychopaths among us.
