This book should be required reading for anyone who wants to make an impact on our climate change issues. It provides a realistic summation of the problems facing us, and even provided me with words (like Götterdämmerung Syndrome) for describing things I’ve seen but couldn’t name.
If you’re looking for a fun science fiction story, however, this isn’t it. I kept waiting for a plucky group of scientists to figure a way around the problems chewing away at mankind, but nobody can stand up to four billion people fighting hard to maintain their standard of living, three billion trying to improve on their heritage, and the tiny group who own everything, fighting to maintain the value of their multi-trillion dollar investments.
So, definitely worth a listen, as long as you temper your expectations.
