This was a lot of fun! It’s a sequel of sorts to the famous story with Boy Alice. I think it would have had more impact on me – as a story – if there’d been more direction with the plot and less focus on making it feel like the original story. What I mean is – I didn’t always feel that Boy Alice was doing anything – and I wasn’t really rooting for him – per se. It was fun to see all the creative lands and adventures he stumbled into – but I wasn’t as invested in his journey as I could have been.

I was so glad I’d been listening to this because I’m not sure I would have kept reading. Joel Leslie, however, is soooo entertaining, and he kept me hooked! He comes up with a thousand and one voices and knows how to deliver the punch lines with just the right panache!

If you’re looking for a fantastical adventure with a m/m twist – this is up your alley.
