I tried valiantly to get through these books, but there were just one to many redundent and improperly placed descriptors, and I had to give up.
I found myself counting aloud the number of times the word “smirk” was used, rather than actually paying attention to the story. The narrator was brilliant, and some of the characters were interesting, but I just could not get past the mediocre writing.
Whoever edited this series before allowing it to go public should be embarrassed, as it could have been engaging and successful despite its challenges . For want of a thesaurus a reader was lost.
