Unprepared. Time: 1349 London, England; The Black Death. In 2032 Kyiv, Ukraine the plague began again; The Scourge. This first book introduces us to the main characters; Candy the TV reporter, Phil, and Bryce the TV sales persons in Orlando, Florida. Mike Crenshaw (a prepper) and Merriam Webber in Lake Mary, Florida. Doctors Morrel and Gwendolyn Sharp from the Kyiv, Ukraine. The story switches between these people as they become aware of the escalating virus sweeping the globe. Looting, rioting, and violence soon follow. Our survivors arrive at the family home of Barry and Betsy Miller who are planning to “get out of Dodge” on a 60’ Sea Ray Sun Dancer yacht. All are invited as they make preparations to leave.

Adrift. Barry and Betsy Miller with their seven other passengers had been on the Rising Star yacht for five months before deciding to make for shore at Coco Beach, Florida. They had had their fill of pirates at sea. Six attempts, one successful, had been enough and their supplies were almost gone. Another group of survivors in Rockledge, Florida led by a man named Trick McQuarrie entered the story. At the same time, an ex-military man named Rufus Buck in Houston, Texas also joined the tale. Buck was on a Presidential mission heading east. Meanwhile, Scientists Gwendolyn, Morrel, and Treadgold continued working on a supposed vaccine for the virus in Atlanta, Georgia. Colonel Wittenburg who was in charge of the lab had recruited Gwendolyn to work with him in determining if the virus could be weaponized for military use. Buck winds up in Atlanta, along with two other former militaries, to meet Colonel Wittenburg for a clandestine mission to Texas.

Grounded. After dealing with Trick McQuarrie and Cooper, Barry and Betsy Miller stayed home with their children in Coco Beach. In gratitude, Barry gave the Rising Star to Mike. Mike, Merriam, and Bryce took the Rising Star to search for Bryce’s mother and brother in Naples, Florida, and Merriam’s father in Texas. Winter Brown, McQuarrie’s woman, was bent on revenge. Winter, Neil, Dickie, and the rest of the little gang headed to Coco Beach from Rockledge. Winter escaped her revenge plot and met up with a brother and sister to travel with to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Rufus Buck and the other two generals continue to build the Cartel in Texas. The scientists in Atlanta continue to develop the weaponized virus and a vaccine for it. Bryce remained in Naples with other survivors while Mike and Merriam continued to Fort Alto, Texas. I am within an hour of the series ending and am still not sure how this is all going to turn out. There must be another book or series.
