This is NOT your typical space opera. It follows the coming out of a young man after his mother’s death leaves him no choice but to get on a space frigate. With each new experience we get to hear his inner feelings and are in on his growth into an accomplished and very likeable human being.
The character development is extraordinary and delightful as long as you do not require endless drabble about weaponry, aliens, or battles in space. There is none of that in this series…. just very good writing!!!
